2 ways to Decorate a Simple Butterfly Cake

I am going back a few years to share this photo of a cake made by my daughter and a family friend. We had a girls day with my daughters and my friend’s 2 daughters. We made and decorated 2 cakes that day. It was a summer day and we did it just for fun! The older 2 girls decorated this butterfly cake.

This cake is so easy and it turned out so cute, I just had to share. It might make us all anxious for spring!

It is a one layer round cake cut in half to make the wings. The body is made from 2 chocolate snack cakes. The antennae are string liquorice and then you just make the wings match by using candies.

On our cake decorating day, the younger girls decorated a one layer cake with a rainbow. It turned out cute too and I will share it another time.

Here is another Butterfly Cake I made for my cousin’s birthday. On this cake I just drew on the shape of a butterfly and filled it in with icing. If you are not much of an artist you could use a picture and trace it lightly with a toothpick. If you put a bit of cornstarch on your finger you can “pat” down the icing to get the smooth look that I have on the pink and blue wings.

I think a Butterfly is an easy way to decorate a cake and it could work for so many occasions! I hope it might work for you! Have a Great Day!!
