Dill Dip for Veggies

Dill Dip recipe

Who doesn’t love to dip? It really makes everything better and kids love to dip! This recipe comes from my friend’s Mom. She used to make this when I was a teenager. I have always loved it and its what I first made to get my kids to start eating raw vegetables!

On some crazy work days I would pick up one of those grocery store rotisserie chickens and serve some raw vegetables and dip on the side. Presto! dinner! and its much healthier than picking up fast food to eat.

You can use light mayonnaise and sour cream if you like to make it healthier… and it is still good :) and it only takes a few minutes to make.

Mix together;

  • 2/3 cup of mayonnaise
  • 1/3 cup of sour cream
  • 1/2 tsp. of minced onion
  • 1 tbsp. of parsley flakes
  • 1 tbsp. of dill weed
  • 1/2 tsp. of seasoned salt
  • 1/2 tsp. of Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 drops of Tabasco sauce if you want a bit of zip!

Mix it all together and chill. Serve with some fresh vegetables.

Some Veggies and Dip photographs to help convince you to make this. (tee hee)

Dill Dip recipe

One year over the Christmas holidays we had a lot of visitors drop in. I had my ingredients in the fridge and I would whip up some dip in the morning to serve to my guests later in the day. We must have had it 4-5 times over that holiday week!

    • Hi Beverley, Do you mean in English measurement? as in metric? If so, I cup = 250 ml
This is not meant to be eaten all at once or by one person even!! It will last you awhile or for a big crowd.
Don’t forget you can use a light mayo and sour cream if you are counting calories! I have bought store made dips before and I figure if I made it at home, it has to be a bit better for you than that!… but yes its probably not diet food and it is yummy!!

    • I got this recipe from Mrs. Watchus! She used to make it and I have it written into an old recipe book from her. That’s funny that you make the same dip!
